directESC
ESC printer language image processor
directESC is a printer language processor RIP for Epson ESC/P, Epson FX, Diablo, OkiData and IBM ProPrinter spool files. The output can be directed to any Windows printer and can be saved concurrently to multipaged TIFF G4 files.
Conversions to PDF, Postscript and any other printer languages can be performed through printing on appropriate Windows printer drivers. An integrated viewer application can be used for preview and configuration purposes.

Convert ESC printer data to TIFF
directESC provides easy and fast conversion of several ESC printer languages to multipaged TIFF G4. Printer fonts can be emulated by any installed Windows font, codepages and further emulation parameters can be determined.
Printing ESC printer data
ESC printer data can be send to any Windows printer. Postscript and PCL printers as well as network and USB devices are supported. Numerous further output formats as PDF, Postscript or PCL are possible by selecting appropriate Windows printer drivers.
Elements as text or graphics are sent to the Windows GDI printer interface in their native format. This helps to create compact output files or searchable PDF documents.
Viewing ESC printer data
A comfortable viewer application displays the supported spool files. It can be used as regular file viewer and displays even a page preview for multipaged documents.
The application provides an easy selection of conversion parameters. All parameters can saved to profiles. Profile selection can be performed automatically, by command line or by the user.
Redirecting MS-DOS printers
Redirections of Windows printers can be performed using additional software. A virtual printer port as directMON can replace standard ports as "LPT1:" and "COM1:" and intercepts all printed data. This works even in the MS-DOS emulation of Microsoft Windows.
directMON intercepts the printers data and calls directESC directly. Now directESC can perform the conversion to TIFF or starts printing on another Windows printer.
directESC and directMON work hand in hand. You may save a conversion profile in the directESC viewer application and select the profile easily and without even touching any command line in the directMON properties dialog.
Save and print - Document Archives
directESC supports simultaneous saving and printing. ESC printer data can be saved to a TIFF file and printed to an arbitrary Windows printer with identical layouts. The TIFF file can be forwarded to a document management system in order to archive documents printed.
An additional RAW print mode just copies the raw spoolfile to the printer, providing better performance if the target printer supports the original format.
