directPCL
PCL printer language image processor
directPCL prints spoolfiles containing PCL formatted printouts to any Windows printer. With an additional printer driver conversions to any output format as Tiff, Pdf, Postscript or other printer languages can be performed.
Convert PCL to...With directPCL you can convert PCL files to the Windows GDI printer interface. This means, to any existing printer providing a Windows printer driver. PCL is a printer language created by Hewlett-Packard (HP) for their own printers. directPCL converts usually data that has been created out of archived spoolfiles or from direct printer output, e.g. from an older but perhaps to you essential MS-DOS application. directPCL is neccessary, because the Windows spooler system does not understand PCL. directPCL together with some additional directTOOLS can intercept the standard printer data flow that has been sent to a Windows printer. It interpretes the PCL data stream and converts it to any other Windows printer. Also printers understanding only Postscript or other printer languages are supported. directPCL is available as 32-bit shell application for the operating systems Microsoft Windows NT4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 2003-Server. Support MS-DOS programsdirectPCL was developed to provide state-of-the-art print output to older MS-DOS applications without the need to modifiy these. Lot's of older MS-DOS applications provides PCL output on LPT1:, but does not support USB- or TCP/IP network printers. With directPCL you can convert older PCL data streams to Postscript, PDF, Tiff, Png or whatsoever. Even a PCL to PCL conversion is possible, in order to bypass PCL language problems forced by some printers. |
Convert PCL to TiffUsing directPCL together with directTOOLS directCONVERT NT/Pro or directCONVERT 2004, a conversion of PCL data to the major image raster formats as TIFF, BMP, GIF or JPEG is possible. Redirection of MS-DOS printersRedirections of Windows printers can be performed by directTOOLS directMON NT. It appears as a virtual printer port (similar to LPT1: or COM1:) and intercepts all printed data. This works also together with older MS-DOS programs. directMON NT sends this data now to directPCL and the conversion to the target printer can be performed now. Facts
