directVIEW - Image Viewer
Fast high quality image viewer
directVIEW shows, prints and communicates all standard graphic file formats as Multipaged TIFF, JPEG, BMP and GIF. About 30 graphic file formats and some vector formats are supported professionally.

directVIEW image viewer
With directVIEW the handling of image files becomes easier and faster. Browse and view instantly, print in high quality, convert to other file formats and send your documents as compressed and printable e-mails.
Real multifile and multipage viewer
directVIEW has been developed in order to show large multipaged TIFF files. Multipaged TIFF documents can contain a significant amount of data. Most common viewers are not capable to handle these files properly. directVIEW takes advantage of all Microsoft Windows system features to process large files with minimal delay. An integrated file preview and a fast directory browser enables fast access to documents.
The image viewer can be used for the control of printouts, for viewing of blueprints, maps, medical images and all types of office documents. directVIEW can be integrated into existing Documents Managements Systems.
Faster image viewing with IntelliBranch
IntelliBranch means faster viewing of multipaged documents. Through an intelligent use of available processor time the application estimates your next steps and uses the processors idle time in order to calculate the next views in advance. Thereby, multipaged TIFF files are handled with almost no delay.
Once opened, files are cached internally. Even if you browse to other files, every time you switch back to a cached file, directVIEW can display it instantly.
High quality image processing
Large images cannot be displayed directly on your screen, since the standard resolution of actual displays is at about 70 up to 95 dpi. Viewing a 300 dpi image on a 70 dpi screen in original size, only 23% of the image information can be displayed due to physical restrictions of actual monitors. This is particularly noticeable during viewing of printer outputs or large format blueprints.
In order to increase quality a two step approach is used. First, a low-detailed but fast representation of the image is displayed. Second, the original image is resampled using high-quality filters adapted especially for the utilized scale factor. The impression of the displayed image matches a paper printout as best as possible. Note that most image viewers use static filters not adapted to the scale factor. A difference that is easy to recognize.
Screen captures
directVIEW supports screenshots in a single key press. Just press the "Print Screen" key on your keyboard and click on the window to capture. The screen capture is displayed and a compressed TIFF - file is created instantly in your personal "My Images" folder. In a further step you can resize the image and effects as shadows or frames can be applied. The screen capturing feature is active even if directVIEW is not running.
Convert image files
All supported raster image and vector files can be converted into common image file formats as TIFF, JPEG, PCX, DCX and GIF. Images can be resized and effects as shadows, frames and dynamical stamps (e.g. a label "Approved") can be applied.
All properties can be "pinned". If you want to arrange several image files in a uniform manner then you can repeat file conversions easily.
Send images by mail
Communicating with image files by mail is sometimes tricky: The receiver doesn't have an appropriate image viewer, the image is not displayed properly or the mail is to large.
directVIEW reduces common errors sending image files by mail. You can select if you want to send the original document file, a standardized and compatible TIFF or JPEG image, or a printable mail. All attachments can be compressed into a ZIP archive file.
Sending standardized TIFF or JPEG images guarantees that common image file viewers can display and print the document properly and that the files are compatible to all operating systems.
Sending a printable e-mail creates a so-called embedded HTML e-mail displaying the image directly in the receivers email application. All actual email communication applications supports this format out of the box. The receiver may print the document directly through the print function of his emailing application.
And it's easy by design: In just 3 clicks you can open a document and send it by mail.
Hi-Res Shading
Actual monitors and graphic cards supports millions of colors but only 256 grayscale steps. Viewing medical images as e.g. grayscaled radiographic images requires at least 1024 grayscale steps. Viewing such files with normal image viewers means skipping 75% of the content without notice.
directVIEW resamples the image using Hi-Res shading. Small grayscale steps are represented by a mixture of all 3 colors. In fact, a slightly colored image is displayed, but the eye recognizes only shades of gray.
With Hi-Res Shading about 780 steps of gray are recognizable on a standard monitor. This reduces the loss of content from about 75% to about 25%. In fact, on images containing 1024 grayscale steps only the least significant bit is lost. This stands not to the requirements of a primary diagnosis system, but improves the quality of reviews dramatically.
Easy integration into applications
All properties of the image viewer can be accessed from the command line: position, size, appearing mode and document. The simple-mode removes all unnecessary buttons and controls and reduces the program to a minimum. The user can just show the image you have specified in the command line. Further features are: Plugin-Interface, ActiveX control, Web Integration and Full-Text search through MetaText files. Please ask us.
