directLABEL NT
Text printer driver for ASCII printers
Text output can be created using different codepages (charmaps). In Europe, Windows systems use normally 2 codepages, ANSI and OEM. The ANSI codepage corresponds to the normal Windows characters, used on the screen and in printouts. The OEM codepage is used inside the MS-DOS shell and together with programs running in MS-DOS compatibility mode. Both codepages depends on the installed windows system, but in Europe the codepages 850 and 437 are used widely.
directLABEL NT supports multilingual usage of codepages
Which codepage shall be used during creation of text files can be configured inside directLABEL NT. All codepages installed on the Windows system are supported. directLABEL NT uses 16bit Unicode in the internal representation of characters, so that any character defined on a system can be printed out.
Custom charmaps
In addition a custom charmap supports special cases, enabling printing to ASCII printers having none or an inadequate printer driver. With the custom charmap, every display character can be mapped to every binary code. A further feature enables sending control codes during printer events as "New page" or "Start of Printjob".
