TrueType Barcode Font Code39

The barcode font "Code-3of9" is a full scaleable TrueType font, providing easy integration of Code39, in nearly all Windows applications.

Code 39. also known as Code 3of9, is a broadly used barcode. There is no other barcode that can combine good safety, easy handling and universal usage on this level. Although there are newer and more compact codes available, code 39 hold it's position as a quasi standard. Actually, all known barcode readers supports code 39 out of the box.

The barcode font "code-3of9" enables you to print your own barcodes just in some minutes. It is designed as a Plug&Play box: Install, change font settings in your application and print. It can be really so easy.

In a nutshell

Supports all Windows programs that are capable of selecting a font.
Supports all digits [0-9] and characters [A-Z]
All by Code 30 defined special characters are supported: [+], [-], [%], [/], [$] and [ ] (Space).
Lower characters [a-z] are mapped to their corresponding upper characters providing easier implementation of database applications. Barcode readers still continue to recognise these as upper characters, because Code 39 does not support lowercase characters.
The character [*] creates the required start/stop terminators. The data-string have to be enclosed with [*] in order to create a valid barcode.

How to use a barcode font?

The following example works with Microsoft Word, but can be applied to nearly any other application:

Select the barcode position and enter the barcode data.
Enclose your data input with an asterix [*]. If your barcode shall encode "123456", type "*123456*".
Ensure enough white spaces around the barcode. For example, you can enclose the barcode with at least two spaces at each side.
Mark the whole barcode data including both asterix. Use the Font-Selector at the top and select the font "Code-3of9".
Now select the right size, normally 10pt or 12pt fits.

Can I create vertical barcodes?

Yes, if your application supports vertical text. In Microsoft Word:

Create a "Textfield", click on "Insert - Textfield". Now draw a frame anywhere on the page.
Click with the right mouse button in the shortcut bar at the top. In the popup-menu, select "Textfield".
Select the textfield. New buttons will be shown now in the shortcut bar.
Click on the "Change text direction" button.
Insert your barcode as described above.
